My Madison Reed Color

I have been coloring my hair for a long time – ever since I was 15 years old! When I was younger I didn’t think about what ingredients were in the dye or what the right color shade was for me, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve become more cognizant of what I’m subjecting my hair to! Using gentle ingredients that won’t damage my hair and finding the perfect shade has become so important to me. That’s why I was thrilled to discover Madison Reed – this is the only thing I use on my roots between my highlight appointments! It gives you the same root-touch up results you would get in the salon, but in the comfort of your own home.  And trust me – it’s so easy!!

Madison Reed is awesome because they have solutions for everything hair-color related – from color-matching and caring for your color to step-by-step guidance to your at-home hair color experience.  All of it is done with a personalized approach that ensures you can color with total confidence.

They created the first ever Smart 6-Free permanent hair color that is free of ammonia, parabens, resorcinol, PPD, phthalates, and gluten. They also added hair-loving nutrients like keratin, argan oil, and ginseng root extract to protect and pamper your hair, which makes a huge difference because we all know how damaging traditional hair dye is to your hair!

Madison Reed has professional colorists to help match your perfect shade. They have expert colorists on staff who are there to answer all of your hair color questions from start to finish — you can call, email or chat, they are always there for you!! I was able to find my perfect shade, Napoli Brown, after a quick call with Madison Reed’s experts. I documented my experience below so you can see how easy it is to do at home!

STEP 1: I squeezed Napoli Brown into the cup that came with my kit! All of the tools that Madison Reed sent in their hair color kit sent are the best!  The brush and the cup made the whole experience so much easier!

STEP 2: I added in the conditioning color activator!

STEP 3: After the color cream and conditioning color enhancing activator are in the cup, it’s time to mix it all up! Make sure to mix it well!

STEP 4: Brush the color on where you desire! I am only darkening my roots for a more dramatic “ombre” look, so I just applied the color to the roots of my hair. I sectioned off my hair and started on the lower sections so I didn’t miss any spots!

After I finished the lower sections, then I start to do the top layer!

The process continues until you have covered all the areas you want to color!

Done! I wanted the roots to be darker, so I left it on around 35-40 minutes.  See the finished results below!!
